I was a Goddess

This project explores the representation of the female nude in art history as well as my personal contemporary take on this subject

Artist Statement

The female nude has been modeled and painted since prehistory, the ancient Greeks establishing a standard that only the asceticism of the Middle Ages ignored. Depending on the period, the nude has symbolized the innocence of Eve, the beauty of an ancient divinity or the uninhibited Libertine of the 18th century.

This project explores the representation of the female nude in art history as well as my personal contemporary take on this subject, immortalizing the ephemeral yet timeless beauty of the female body in order to illustrate a simple reality already depicted by Rembrandt a few centuries ago: a nude woman is neither a saint nor a sinner, a victim nor a seductress, but a full participant in humanity.
